Virus Total is a tool that allows you to scan any website URL that may contain malware or any other kind of malicious threat. Virus total uses the help of multiple security vendors to conduct the scans as some sites are reported for its malicious intent, these security vendors then flag it and provide the information to the user scanning the website URL.

You can also upload files to be scanned. Upon submitting a file or URL, basic results are shared with the submitter, and also between the examining partners, who use results to improve their own systems. As a result, by submitting files, URLs, domains, etc. to Virus Total you are contributing to raise the global IT security level. More information on how this works is provided below.
